Washington, DC – Clark Mica, President of the Institute of Makers of Explosives (IME), issued the following statement in support of H.R. 4776, the Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development (SPEED) Act:

“The Institute of Makers of Explosives applauds the U.S. House of Representatives for passing H.R. 4776, the Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development (SPEED) Act. This important bipartisan legislation, introduced by House Committee on Natural Resources Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) and Rep. The SPEED Act represents a decisive step toward rebuilding America’s critical supply chains, strengthening our economy, and ensuring the nation’s long-term industrial and defense readiness.”

IME urges swift Senate action on this vital legislation.

ABOUT IME: The Institute of Makers of Explosives’ mission is to promote the safe and secure manufacture, transport, distribution, and use of commercial explosives. For more than 100 years, the Institute has represented U.S. manufacturers of commercial explosives and other companies that distribute commercial explosives or provide related products and services. Today, the commercial explosives industry accounts for over 60,000 jobs with an economic impact of more than $19 billion.
